Sonic Vigil 4 Box Set Release and Concert
Tonight Dec 18TH sees the launch of the Sonic Vigil 4 Box produced by ANEAR Productions. This consists of live recordings of one of the most unique sonic events held in the country. The event took place in St Finbar’s Cathedral in July 2009 and consisted of a six hour concert of some of the world’s leading exponents of sound as an art form. With artists from six countries presenting works in most contemporary genres from electronic to electro acoustic and sound poetry to field recordings.
The unique setting of St Finbars Cathedral and its wonderful acoustics are explored in full by the artists and the results are captured faithfully by engineer Robbie Collins. The results are available in this new and strictly limited (numbered 1/150) edition of four CDs and artists designed cards housed in a special embossed black box designed by artist Mick O’Shea of The Quiet Club.
Amongst the artists featured on the four CDs are Angus Carlyle (UK), Olivier Nijs (NL), Suspicion Breeds Confidence / Tobias Schmitt (DE), Roland Etzin (DE), The Quiet Club (Irl), SAFE , Female Orphan Asylum, John Godfrey, Tony Langlois, Kelly/Stalling, Mersk, Francis Heery, Japp Blonk (Nl), Christine Wertheim(USA), Jerome Rotherberg (USA).
The launch and concert takes place in Triskel Arts Centre Caroline Street at 7PM on the 18TH Dec Admission is Free. The concert will feature The Quiet Club Orchestra and Chorus which will include John Godfrey, Harry Moore, Mersk, Vicky Langan, SAFE, Roland Etzin with video by Irene Murphy.
