Dancing At (The Other Side Of) The Crossroads
With Patrick Ireland

This record is No     of a limited edition of ten signed and numbered records.

It was created by the artist Danny McCarthy to mark the unveiling of “One Here Now” an installation by Patrick Ireland/Brian O’Doherty in the Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Ireland in 2018. This work was originally created by Patrick Ireland in 1996 and subsequently covered over by paper one year later and had remained hidden ever since until its restoration under the direction of Miranda Driscoll Artistic Director Sirius Arts Centre in 2018. This involved removing the layer of paper covering it along with its hundreds of coats of paint acquired by the painting of the gallery walls over the years.
This vinyl record involves various field recordings made on site and subsequent recordings made using the removed paper as a sound source recorded in the artist’s studio.

Presenting Miranda Driscoll director of Sirius Arts Centre the Artist's Proof/TestPressing of my new vinyl release "Dancing At The (other side of) The Crossroads With Patrick Ireland"  on the ocasion of her leaving Sirius after five amazingly creative years. The record consists field recordings made on site of the installation "One Here Now" by Brian O'Doherty. The recording uses the sounds of the paper which covered the work being removed after twenty two years. Subsequent recording were also made in the artists studio also using the paper as sound source. The paper had been painted over in hundreds of layers of paint over the years it was on the gallery walls and carried the twenty plus years of history in its layers. The salvaged paper was subsequently used to fabricate the cover of the record. So one is not only getting a recording but an art object that is an actual piece of history as well.

There is a limited edition of ten signed and numbered copies.
