The Quiet Club @ Sirius Arts Centre

Always new and sonically innovative The Quiet Club continue to push the boundaries of sound and listening across Ireland and the world. Constantly changing and evolving over their twenty years together they have never spoken with each other about their practice.

Their concert in Sirius has become an annual event and is a highlight of the East Cort arts scene. This year they will be joined by Artem Trofimenko a Ukrainian dance (Butoh) and movement artist now resident in Cork and American experimental cellist Cora DA. The Quiet Club like to explore each space they perform in for all its sonic possibilities and Sirius will be no different as each year they have new artists perform with them always ready to explore new possibilities.

Known for their stated policy of "we don't talk about it before and we don't talk about it after".

They have performed worldwide from USA to China, all over Europe and further afield in Japan and elsewhere. They have numerous releases on CDs,Vinyls and cassette tapes (available from Farpoint Recordings) and have performed with some of the world’s leading artists including David Toop, Stephen Vitiello, Steve Roden, Rhodri Davis, Mark Wastell, Jed Spear, Pauline Oliveros to name but a few and in such notable venues as Cafe Oto London, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Florida and Harvestworks New York.

They have many recordings released both as a group and as solo artists on labels such as Farpoint Recordings, Otroku (Cafe Oto), Anear, Nyaah and others.

People are still talking about their very successful concert/event in Sirius last year and this promises to be another such night and not to be missed.

Artem Trofimenko is a Cork-based artist and filmmaker working across analogue film, performance, and sound. His approach to movement draws on Butoh, trained with Atsushi Takenouchi. Recent work includes Radio Silence, a transmission framework developed through residencies at Cork Theatre Collective and AARK Korpo, Finland. It also includes f\XILE, an installation first developed at Sirius Arts Centre under mentor Miguel Amado and shown at Lavit Gallery for Cork Fringe Festival 2026. He is a studio member at Sample-Studios, a technician at Cork Film Centre, and a founding member of Slow Camera Exchange. His work has been supported by the Arts Council, Cork City Council, and the Nordic Culture Fund.

“Cora DA is a Cork based sound artist. Previously based in Boston, she led avant-rock group Dress Better which gained a cult following in the local basement scene, and supported many other rock and neo-soul acts on a variety of traditional musical instruments. Her work also involves more experimental live sound performance, of both improvised and predetermined nature, using a variety of instruments, as well as found objects and miscellaneous electronics, aided by computer programs. These may all be seen in both collaborative and solo contexts. Textural focus and strong decision making are always central in these performances.”
