Cork Phonographers Union Report
Last night saw the “Meet” of the Cork Phonographers Union take place in the wonderful congenial atmosphere of The Guesthouse in Shandon.It was address by Roland Etzin who gave a fascinating presentation on the work of the Gruenrekorder Record Label( www.gruenrekorder.de/ ) of which he is co director and of his own work. He gave a brief and informed basic history of phonography and introduce the audience to some of the most important web sites and chatrooms dealing with this rapidly expanding area of sound practice.
He also spoke of the equipment he uses and how to achieve different results and of the practice of true field recording and processed recordings. It was a fascinating presentation allowing lots of room for questions and answers and most importantly the exchange of information and ideas.
