Found Sound (Lost At Sea) 11.1.11 is the title of the annual sound installation at the Crawford Gallery Cork Ireland by Danny McCarthy. The work consists of the sound of a foghorn echoing through Emmet Place and the surrounding streets of the city. The foghorn will sound intermittently thus people will not know when exactly it will sound. It will sound between 9am and 6 pm. The work arises from the artists interest in acoustic ecology and his practice of listening. On the 11th Jan 2011 foghorns ceased to sound off the coast of Ireland.

The work is in situ all year round but only sound on the 11th Jan and has been contracted to the Gallery for five years. It originally appeared as part of a residency the artist did in the Gallery as part of Strange Attractor a multi media exhibition/ residency along with the artists Irene Murphy, Mick O'Shea, Anthony Kelly and David Stalling which occupied the two modern gallery an other spaces in the building for a month in 2011.
